UN Sustainability Development Goals: can we save the planet by 2030?

In 2015 the United Nations introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are 17 goals that shape the framework of partnerships and policies for countries to ensure a sustainable world with zero poverty, better conditions of living, and run on clean and reusable energy.

The latest SDG report published by the UN shows that the world is unlikely to reach its targets of achieving these goals by 2030. What does this mean for the younger generations? And how much do they know about the SDGs?

This MOJO mini-documentary was inspired by a report titled AusNZPac Youth SDG Index that was led by the Monash Institute of Sustainable Development (MSDI).

In this report, researchers looked at how well the youth in the region are progressing toward the SDGs and, sadly, the results show that young people are falling behind on many of the targets.
